Feeding the 5,000 prayer service set

POCATELLO — The community is invited to participate in the annual prayer service during the Feeding the 5,000 Families on Saturday, Feb. 26, at First Presbyterian Church, 202 S. Seventh Ave., Pocatello.

The service will begin at 7 p.m. Readers will include Laura McKnight, Holy Spirit Catholic Community; Dawn McLaughlin, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Lynda Montgomery, First United Methodist Church; and Melissa Norton, First Presbyterian Church.

The service will include prayers, Scripture readings, music, periods of silent meditation along with videos from agencies that focus on the needs of the hungry, including Bread for the World and Idaho Foodbank. The prayer service hopes to bring awareness to those who are the hungry in this area and the impact it has on the community.

There are three areas that this prayer service that will focus on: direct philanthropy, working with hunger relief agencies and working as advocacies. There will be displays in the chapel representing some of the agencies in the area dealing with hunger. Participants are encouraged to come early or stay after the prayer service to view the displays.
