The 2017 Feeding the 5000 committee extends a heartfelt, “Thank You!!” to the Pocatello folks who braved cold and windy spring weather to attend the Progressive dinner last evening.  We also are grateful to the various local churches and the congregations who  provided the food and venues.  100% of the money raised went to the Foodbank. • Please come and light a candle to fight hunger.
Feeding the 5000 families food drive will be having a candlelight service on March 24, 2018 at Community of Christ located at 4588 Bannock Highway beginning at 7:00 pm. The service is designed to bring awareness to the hungry in our community. This candlelight service is being held in connection with the feeding the 5000 families food drive, an interfaith group in its 20
th year helping provide food and money to our local care agencies.
We invite the general public to attend this free community event and learn about hunger in our community. At this service, we will hear this through prayer, music, and readings of hunger in our community. There will be an opportunity at this service to make a donation of a non-perishable food items and/ or monetary donations to the Idaho Foodbank.

According to the Idaho Foodbank website 15.6% of Idaho’s residents are food insecure – 250,830 people or 1 in 6and 17.3% of Idaho’s residents are food insecure – 274,230 people or 1 in 6 and 21.1% of Idaho’s children are food insecure – 90,240 children or 1 in 5.Our local branch of the Idaho Foodbank can provide 4 meals from a one dollar donation.

Hunger persists in the United States, 48.1 million Americans lived in food insecure households, including 32.8 million adults and 15.3 million children, live in households that experience hunger or the risk of hunger. This represents approximately 14 percent of households (17.4 million households) were food insecure in the United States.

Please come and light a candle to fight hunger.

  • 2017 Opening Celebration

The Idaho Children's Choir performing at the Opening Celebration. One of the many groups who lent their time talents to raise awareness of hunger in our community. The venue was packed! We raised 2090.00 from the offering for the Idaho Foodbank. That will provide enough 4360 meals to feed hungry idahoans.  Thank you to the churches and  groups that participants. And thank you to all who attended  to support their neighbors and friends!

What a great way to kick off this food drive.
